The following excerpt is from a very POWERFUL article in the OffGuardian. I highly recommend it.
A civilisation without war is a desirable and achievable goal for the human community of this planet.
A sincerely anti-war Pres in the Whitehouse would drive the warmongering psychos who engineer perpetual war – and thereby perpetual misery for humankind – utterly bonkers.
It’s time to take them out of the human equation and create a civilisation fit for decent human beings to live in. We can do this!
Interestingly a friend, upon reading this message said that whilst he does not believe what I am proposing is achievable, he admires my optimism.
My answer to that is that everything that human beings have achieved has always started with and CANNOT happen without:
imagination – in order to make a future happen, we must first imagine it
optimism – that it can be made to happen
intention – the decision to make what we have dreamed up happen
action – getting busy doing the doingness required to actively create the future we have decided to have.
Here is the excerpt from an article entitled “Although Scarred by Violence, We Must Not Be Scared into Silence”, which I highly recommend.
Like his father Senator Robert Kennedy and his uncle, President Kennedy, he [Robert F. Kennedy, Jr] is anti-war, committed to ending the endless cycle of overseas wars sustained by the military-industrial complex and the corporations who feed at the trough of war spending. He opposes the policies of those politicians who support such endless carnage, which is most of them, including most emphatically Joe Biden. He realizes the danger of nuclear war. He tells us on his website, Kennedy24:
As President, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will start the process of unwinding empire. We will bring the troops home. We will stop racking up unpayable debt to fight one war after another. The military will return to its proper role of defending our country. We will end the proxy wars, bombing campaigns, covert operations, coups, paramilitaries, and everything else that has become so normal most people don’t know it’s happening. But it is happening, a constant drain on our strength. It’s time to come home and restore this country. . . . We will lead by example. When a warlike imperial nation disarms of its own accord, it sets a template for peace everywhere. It is not too late for us to voluntarily let go of empire and serve peace instead, as a strong and healthy nation.
If we want a civilisation without war, that does not demand we send our sons and daughters off to the latest battlefield or that we kill people with whom we have no quarrel and have not in fact never even met, it is within our collective power to make it so.
In the US, the election of Robert F Kennedy Jr would be a huge stride in that direction.
